I'm non a fan of it being there and on the lock screen either. Proceed pressing it accidentally.

If your telephone is locked why does information technology matter if you press the icon by blow? Information technology won't open up unless you lot concur it downwards for a full second or ii

Yes, it is possible. Go to: Settings/Security and Privacy/Parental Controls. Set information technology to On.

Does that remove the icon from the homescreen / lock screen or does it simply disable the camera?

I guess both of them are true.

Sometimes I hold many things and I clutch my phone in my mitt at the same time. The palm of my manus is sometimes against the camera icon for an extended menses of fourth dimension which triggers the camera, unlocks my phone, and sometimes takes unwanted shots.

Well, there you have it. If you want to remove the camera icon from your homescreen / lock screen so that you don't accidentally launch the camera app, you have to completely disable the camera feature within the security settings.

That's not a valid solution. OP never said they wanted to completely disable the camera. Just become it off the home screen so it didn't activate when swiped.
When my screen is locked and I swipe up over the camera, aught happens at all. But unlocks if I swipe nearly the middle.

Parental control removal method works great, if yous NEVER desire to utilise the camera.
Major pita when you want to apply it, as y'all will need to become to settings and enable the camera, just so you can open the photographic camera.
The OP wants to remove the permanent (every screen) icon. Seems reasonable. Much more reasonable than having the icon locked, and unable to change or merely remove it.
BB10 was two steps forrad, but vi steps back with the loss of customizations we used to have. Here we are, one yr+ into BB10 and we're nevertheless asking to have basic customization returned.
Would be nice if BlackBerry would listen. Only hey, we got giant emoticons for BBM -aint that just freeking crawly!CDN

Why don't you want united states to ha well the choice of removing the phone and camera icon on the bottom? I make and then many phone calls and take so many pics. Information technology's just actually abrasive.
And what he said about it non beingness every bit customizable equally 7.ane is true. It'due south a amend Bone but I'd certain similar it if it had all the practiced features from the past. Hopefully in fourth dimension it volition have that. The sooner the meliorate.

OP asked a question. And then was given a solution. Don't need to hurt each other.
